Florida Requirements for the UST Walkthrough Inspection

As previously presented, the EPA stated in the 2015 regulation revision that a walkthrough inspection must be conducted every 30-days and must meet one of three options.

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) - Division of Waste Management - Permitting and Compliance Assistance Program oversees the UST program in the state of Florida. The UST requirements (including the UST Walkthrough Inspection) are set forth in Florida Adminstrative Code (F.A.C.) Chapter 62-761 dated June 25, 2023.

Therefore, walkthrough inspections in Florida are conducted according to requirements developed by an implementing agency (Option 3).

FDEP does not have a mandated form for conducting the 30-Day UST Visual Walkthrough Inspection; however, FDEP has previously recommended the use of the PEI RP900 - UST Inspection and Maintenance (2021 Edition) forms. However, FDEP has stated that an alternative form can be used if it meets the requirements of Chapter 62-761.

The RP900 Appendix A-1: Sample Form for Monthly Underground Storage System Inspection Checklist is shown below and is available through the PEI website.
